Alternative Strings - As a high school orchestra director, and professional violinist, alternative strings is my passion. Developing a curriculum for alternative strings comes down to keeping our music programs vital and contemporary. For students, it's an exploration of world music, fiddle, blues, jazz, and improvisation. In a way, when I have performed a workshop- it is almost a "world tour" of the violin- from classical or baroque music, all the way to strings you'd hear on pop radio today. Keeping string curriculum and orchestra current and relevant for young musicians is a huge part of my music advocacy and recruiting program!
